What makes my son special? Let me highlight his qualities… since his milestones are my accomplishment-trophies. He recently received his “Most Generous” and “Most Well-Groomed” awards; and he is now busy, learning with fun, in his sign language class. His good morning cheers speak of a radiant day ahead… …subduing lurking gloomy hours by his unceasing hugs …smiting attacking blues of boredom with his unlimited thumbs-up. His expressive eyes beam with mirth… …bringing bliss-filled smiles while he sings in his own melody …beautifying home keeping moments as he claps with his approval. His winsome chuckles affirm hopefulness… …attesting triumph over household chores …affirming progress in his tasks along joyous discipline-endeavors. His pleasant grateful countenance expresses contentment delight… …exemplifying “happy always” disposition …exuding from his love-filled heart. His daily bathing spree overflows with freedom-wonders… …outpouring glee for water-splash and bubbling soap …overtaking him with showers of freshness. His kind dealings with pets qualifies him as advocate for the Animal Welfare Society… …quieting stress as he communicates with his puppies, kittens and love birds …quelling high blood pressure when he fixes his bed, filled with stuffed toys. His quirky gestures gear everyone toward guardian-alertness… …girding goal of volunteerism-focus …gripping guidance-priority midst distractions. His medical condition testifies that he has spasm epilepsy… …training family members to be prudently calm during his seizures …transforming home toward serenity haven from being a noisy play house. His global developmental delay confirms that he’s a PWD*… …conquering his deficiency through his cooperation with therapists’ efficiency …combating his wheel-chair confinement by diligent exercise. His special needs make me strive to become a better mother… …moving me to be more caring, compassionate and concerned …managing his affairs prayerfully with faith in God Who knows what’s best. His being he helps me to do my best… …hoisting my poetic momentum, especially when he is the subject of my muse …heralding to me tidings of blessings I must thank** the Lord for! *PWD - person with disability **Philippians 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. July 27, 2019 5th place, "NA rerun-2" Poetry Contest Sponsored by John Hamilton; judged on 8/10/2019.
