Poem
At that moment an explosion of mud filled the air as their tension was now largely increased. They tried to gather their wits but all took to stare as for the first time laid eyes on the Beast. The one-eyed Creature stood forty palms high with spiny tentacles meant to impale and kill. Its mouth held one monstrous tooth the size of Bestia's thigh and its breath was a coupling of pigwash and swill. The Creature had hair where hair should not be and its color was a most sickening yellow. And the sound that it made like a tortured banshee so they knew this was no reasonable fellow. The Beast began the attack with a vengeance of hatred and rage as its tentacles darted and struck where it might. And Bestia and Slaygon quickly stepped forward to engage while the others were soon joined to the fight. The slashed with their swords in a battle of strife to show the Beast of their fervor and zeal. And all hoped this was not the end of their life and be tenderized to serve as the Creature's next meal. A huge tentacle knocked Slaygon and he fell to his knees while brave Blender rose to garner his place. While Megan and Regan sliced and stabbed as they pleased and Graygall held back in disgrace. Even the Talkalot joined in to do as much as he dared but being so small was just batted about. And spent most of the time flying high in the air but as to his constant farting... there was no doubt. Now Slaygon and Bestia were both back on their feet and cleaved a tentacle clear from the Beast. The Creature howled in pain and began a hasty retreat and for the moment the danger had ceased. The Beast slipped away but they stood at the ready when time seemed to grind to a halt. They waited and waited and all remained steady should the Creature renew the assault. 'I think we have won,' said Blender with a bit of delight. 'The Creature has gone and we still remain. We have proven our worth so the future looks bright and as to the Trolls... we will give them the same.' For the first time Megan was aware of the possible cost should this brave group not succeed with her scheme. That she cared for these 'lumps and their lives might be lost and now thought the sacrifice far too extreme. They reached the end of the Bog and rested a while where Megan now spoke to friends... not to strangers. 'I have been honored to stand and suffer our trials but I can no longer put you in danger.' 'I thank you... but Regan and I shall continue alone to save our Father should the fates be not too nervous. So please take your leave and return to your homes and save your lives for a much higher purpose.' The silence was deafening and appallingly absurd but quickly gave way to howls of laughter. Slaygon replied, 'We 'lumps have given our word and will stand with you until we find the hereafter.' Bestia spoke up, 'Let there be no further discussion on ending this quest for hope and redemption. We must stick to our goal and I find it disgusting that we would go back and reverse our direction.' 'But the girl makes a good point,' said Graygall to offer his view. 'We are no match and such is our fate. Our lives will be lost and the Trolls will have something new which will be our heads to hang on their gate.' The Talkalot chimed in, 'Me thinks there be some affection for all who chase after bubbles and sails. And they who sell their lives in a burst of somber reflection will be truly honored to live forever in tails.' So the quest would resume as they gathered their things knowing the danger that now tried their souls. And after another two days of walking the birds would not sing... for they had entered the land of the Trolls. Slaygon said carefully, 'We must proceed with great care and remain vigilant to stay out of sight. So we will rest here for the day and try to prepare to approach the Troll castle in the dead of the night.' Their nerves were alight with a tremulous fright but the brave company slept as best as they could. And they were girded awake at the end of daylight and crept stealthily to the edge of the wood. They stared at the castle which defied any entry as the walls were much higher than thought. And even if they managed to take down the two sentries... there was still the magical lock. 'Well. First things first,' said Bestia to cut through the tension. 'Slaygon and I will go forth and give them their due. But how to take down two Trolls who are six times our dimension? I have to admit... I haven't a clue.' 'A direct route is best,' Slaygon said. 'If we wish to contend with the Trolls who we know are not very smart. We will be singing a song and approach them as friends and hopefully surprise will allow for our part.' The group wished them luck as they emerged from the wood singing a Troll song they happened to know. And with the dark of the night... got as close as they could before stabbing each Troll in their toe. The Trolls grabbed at their feet and fell to the ground where the 'lumps took a club to each fellow. And before the Trolls had time to utter a sound they lay on the ground both peaceful and mellow. End of Part 5/7 *For those who may be interested. I will be posting my cartoon 'Bob's your Uncle' on my homepage. A new one will appear every second day.
