Poem

It a day like any other
We were sharing time as a family
My two girls and my son
My husband and I laughed at his jokes
We ate till we were stuffed
Played games like crazy
Then I tucked them into bed
I tucked in my son last
He looked at me and said “I love you mommy”
I go to bed and I wake to my daughter’s screams
As I go check on them, I see that my son is not in bed
His bed sheets are scattered on the floor
I run outside but there is nothing but silence
I dial 911
Police arrive 20 minutes after my call
Say to wait 24 hours and call them again if he hasn’t appeared
The next day I waited by the door
Hours pass but I don’t see my boy
I call the police and they issue an amber alert
They tell me to wait and not worry
Wait and not worry?!
I have broken heart because a soulless person has taken my son
I have two daughters crying because their younger brother is gone from their lives
I have a husband who is desperately looking for his son and won’t stop until he is found
My son is gone!
Look at this picture, look at it!
This is my son
He is the kindest person you could ever meet
He has done nothing to anyone
There is a family crying because he has been kidnapped
And the person responsible is out loose and you do nothing but to tell me to not worry and wait
God, you should have taken me instead not him
When will my boy be found?
When will he jump into my arms?
When will I able to tuck him into bed again?
When will I hear him say “Mommy I love you “?
Touch his face and and say “ I love you too son”
But until then, I will look for him
Pouring my heart and devotion into hoping that one day, he will return
But when?
