" Stairway To Heaven " I hear something its a faint beautiful voice saying "hey, Correctional Officer its time to come to me up the Stairway To Heaven. I want you with me in my sight You have done so well with your short time of life as you have died this night. You have honored my commandments lived your life for me now its time for you to retire you always did what’s best your reward is being saved from the devil’s hellish fire. I want you next to me I want to hear your story to me you must explain" I said to thee oh Lord I will do the best I can I’ll even make it plain. I’ve seen the devil’s evil work I’ve had my share of fights I’ve never turned to run away my job had many frights. I’d worry about my home the family that I love I knew if something happened you’d watch them from above. Walking down those tiers daily fighting with the screams behind the metal gates the job that no one wanted the lowest branch of law there is no real debate. We did the best we could behind the concrete wall each and every day we provided for our families gave them what we could there was no other way. Your name was often mentioned when crisis would arise to protect us from the danger and quell our hurtful cries. Free people on the streets do not have a clue to this kind of anger that I am telling you. They never see or hear the ugliness inside the lives we sometimes save even some have died. They rarely get to read of our brothers and our sisters and the life that they gave while walking through the tiers. We are one great big family during all our shifts together meeting every day protecting free society with little recognition and very little pay. The job that I was doing for every human being kept me out of touch I really want you to know Lord I have you in my heart I love you very much. I’ve looked out for the good folks kept them all real safe through my daily beat always hoping one day you my lord I would get to meet. You reached out with your arms wrapped them all around me and said I’ve done my time in hell you said I finally made it you gave me one last key you said I fit in well... Penned By MPK
