Predator Antiqua Multis Versus Respiciens Tempus I Watched Midnight Sun Fall Into Dark Shades Of Oblivion Part I I watched midnight sun fall into dark shades of oblivion with its dying light screaming in agonizing moans upon bloody battlefields of massive bloated carrion as weeping echoes surged up from its low wailing stones. I watched the dying of Time's repugnant wanderlusts fields of angry flowers, with petals spitting forth arrows as demons swirled in volleys of hell's fiery gusts and in horror saw slow burning of wounded sparrows! I watched as dawn out-cursed me and refused to rise in its retreating, night stood again to take a bow claiming I was another devil, wearing a clever disguise that my desires were legion, but my soul knew not how to right my wrongs, or survive my sad shocking surprise. I watched as humanity, its left foot burned and broken hobbled along a broad dark highway of malignant dreams at every intersection was a monstrous fallen token and in its former place, a cavern of hideous screams! I watched ravenous beasts, fly into clouds of black hate and from that collision a storm raining deepest red with new found sorrows, I knew salvation was too late for my last long gasp, echoed- friend, you are already dead! Part II Hold the candle, that these blinded eyes may see the demise of a fool, that raced into hell with such foolhardy bravery thinking massive treasures were guarded only by its dark lies only to discover, such appealed to my black-hearted knavery! Hold the applauding, plenty of fools walk among the living carrying their wretched arrogance in bottomless sacks devoid of any honor, and selfish in their little givings walking upright with devil's cannons mounted on their backs! Hold the door, you can curse me when I am dead and gone my soul is a mere shadow, its past written to be forgotten I stand in my groaning anguish in a crowded room all alone my right hand cut off, other one charred black and rotten all of my dreams shattered, pain soaked into my every bone! Hold the weeping, such should not be wasted on selfish takers and certainly not on a man seeking to grab all he can get true this wicked world rewards charlatans, its clever fakers those that can fly, swim beneath oceans never getting wet! Hold the sad singing, by my swearing life is not over yet for there is fresh bait on the hook and power in my casting pride in my deceiving as I walk with no kind of regret for I journey forth, with my wiles and my cannons blasting! Robert J. Lindley, October 7th, 1974 Dark rhyme, ( Where The Shadows Dance And So Gaily Roam ) *** I Would Speak True Whispers, Basked In Light I would walk with you, were it a free choice not by happenstance of Time's setting sun nor the loud command of Fate's darker voice with its race, that each new dawn has begun. I would speak true whispers, basked in light not tales of shadows that creep all alone nor fairy tales with galloping white knights with hero and the sword pulled from stone. I would dance with you, even unto death not the kind where heroic heroes die nor where that final kiss comes at last breath rather where Heaven reaches from bright sky. I would compose a poem at its heart true never the kind showing my missing you! Robert J. Lindley, October 23rd, 1974 Sonnet, ( I would write love and its joy if Fate Allowed ) *** As Soft Winds Did Red Colors Blow To Sway Through welcoming rose garden feet did tread aromatic the scent of dawn's new day but for joy, this lonesome heart had left bed with high hopes that our love we not betray and in heavenly love we'd pray to wed. Within our blessings, hope its dear truth rode as if a songbird, set to sing anew yet this dark world oft has wicked lies told that may turn truest love to sad and blue in that misery, dark horse may be rode! Searching for beauty to allay great fears as glowing flowers beseech searching heart morn's glistening dew falling as soft tears to wash away sadness, our time apart heal wounds as opened by such poison spears! As soft winds did red colors blow to sway sun's sweet golden rays soon began to speak hold thy romance true, yield not to dismay listen not to doubts, allow love thy seek to assure, future which heart firmly prays. Through welcoming rose garden feet did tread aromatic the scent of dawn's new day but for joy, this lonesome heart had left bed with high hopes that our love we not betray and in heavenly love we'd pray to wed. Robert J. Lindley, November 9th, 1974 Rhyme, ( In Dawn's Sweetest Garden, Hope Was Renewed ) ***
