*Image of David and Saul issued by Public Domain as it was published or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office before January 1, 1926. Saul's Spite Of David I may not be the chosen, say Samuel, man of God, But I am still young and weary of this prattle, For demons continue their way of me, they dare not give me rest, Is Samuel still in Bethlehem, well so be it, I will not be pestered so, But nay, these demons do persist, Give me fruits of thy labor and song, so that both comfort my troubled soul, My Lord, David son of Jesse, renowned for playing his harp, a writer of songs, Then send for him and be quick, Here, take these bobbles and trinkets so that he may please me with a visit, and more, David, I appoint you bearer of my armor, your father knows you honor my court, So play and make merry, and settle my troubled heart, David, the Philistines have gathered their army and we must go and face them, Make haste and bring me my armor, and your harp to sweeten the journey, My Lord, that young brat David says that he can take all of Philistia by his lonesome, Then David, take my sword and bring me the head of that giant boaster in mid field, With but a stone my Lord, with but a stone, young David had slain the giant, He lays dead in mid field, headless is he, here comes David, Hail young David who comes with the king, Hail, David, Hail! Your new spear, my Lord, as you have requested, Play your new song for me David whilst I test my new spear, You have drank too much wine I fear your aims may pierce someone wrongly, Nay David for you jest, how do you know I have drank too much wine, Because you have already missed me twice, my Lord, You have not married the elder but you will marry Michal the younger of my daughters, Your friendship with David will be your doom, for you want him to sit on the throne instead of yourself, Jonathan, you irk me so, I almost hit you with my spear, you and your sister disgusts me, I have given my daughter to another, Kill the high priest and all in Nob, They have all signed their death warrant for their betrayal of me to David, My Lord, your robe has been torn from what looks to be done by a sword, Is that you David, how come you to possess both my jug wine and my spear, So truly, you came in the night and could have slain me, but spared me instead, So shall it be, we will part our ways, and this be the end of it, David, Farewell my king, fare thee well young David, player of harp and singer of songs, Not to mention, slayer of the giant, my Lord, Oh hush you fool, for let us be in peace. 2019 May 08 *Honorable Mention* STRAND SELECT K, any form, any theme ~~Brian Strand: Judged 2020 May 11
