The Grip of Allah

You lessened your grip
as you slowly bled out.
Death rode in 
to remove all doubt.

The weapon you held 
that fired your hate
Lies silent now,
no more lives to take.

Anger and rage 
consumed your mind.
Killing love and mercy,
strangling the divine.

As your bitter blood
seeped into the sand.
Shadows rolled in,
dimming the land.

Paradise awaited,
or so you were told.
But the gray rider smiled 
as he reaped your soul.

In the name of a prophet,
the innocent you took,
stand in judgment
as they open your book.

You pleaded for mercy,
be lenient my Lord.
His wrath replied
with a righteous sword.

There is no paradise,
no virginal homes.
Your fallen heart
left you alone.

Birds and flies gather
in burning desert heat.
They wait for Allah
to bless another feast.
