Poem
Regarding forgiveness, never had I heard it said in such a way as it flowed so gently from the lips of a wise woman today. From the innermost being of one so pure and noble and from one who surely practices the art of forgiveness came words most arresting and refreshing. Unforgiveness can lay hold of its victims, forcing them into captivity for a lifetime; and in so during, no parties involved are benefited. Regardless of the depth of our wounds or how inhumanely we have been wronged, to be truly free and whole, we must find a way to forgive others. The wise lady said that we can approach matters of forgiveness like we deal with the loss of a loved one. We can allow the grief to saturate us to the point of never letting it go, taking it to the grave with us. Or, we can acknowledge the pain and sting of death, release the grief and move forward. Likewise, release the offending person and "move on". The deceased one does not come back to life. The offense cannot be undone, nor does it go away any more than death or its sting of grief and loss. However, we learn to live with the loss and gracefully move on, thriving with the love of God in our heart. Also, we become candidates for the healing of others. 03272019PoSoup
