Hillary Rodham Clinton, a trailblazer Born on October 26, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois The oldest of three siblings A wife. A mother. A grandmother A matriarch. THE powerful woman... Behind former President Bill Clinton! Born to serve, she has worn copious hats Over the past 3 decades of her political career Lawyer, First Lady, US Senator Secretary of State, Author, the list goes on One of the most polarizing figures of our time Everyone has an opinion about her. Everyone! She's a tireless champion of women's rights She's a survivor of tough ordeals Congressional Republicans spent half a day Trying to skin her hide at the Benghazi hearing Much to their chagrin, she came out unscathed, unfazed Publicly humiliated by her husband's infidelity She made the decision to stand by her man, ignoring Those urging her to pull the plug on her marriage Her gumption is admirable! Hillary Rodham is woman impossible to ignore A woman of many accomplishments A woman of many firsts The first First Lady to have an office In the West Wing of the White House As first ladies usually have offices in the East Wing The first female member on Wal-Mart's board The first woman ever nominated by a major party For the presidency of The United States And the first First Lady to ever run for president She set a good example on how to run a race Without wallowing in political mudslinging. She endured Being called "Crooked Hillary"--Oh, the irony!--by her Bully of an opponent. She chose instead to adopt the "If they go low, we go high!" mantra. Certainly, it was Quite a nasty election, and her loss quite bruising But she showed remarkable resilience While she didn't quite shatter the glass ceiling She sure did leave massive cracks in it And she influenced scores of women in politics To follow her footsteps in the process Whether you like or dislike her, she's made her mark On the political stage in more ways than one Although she ran for president twice, and lost twice She inspired generations of young girls to dream Loftier dreams and believe that anything is possible That a woman could someday be president of United States What type of a president she would've been, I'll never know But I sure loved watching her try to shatter the glass ceiling!
