Poem

We shared the same DNA running in our blood 
and embraced with love was our deep bond.
It was always completely understood with faith
that we shared a divine friendship so beautiful. 
She was blonde, me brunette, looking nothing alike,
though we were one and the same without fear.  

I must have been ten when she shared her pen
with parchment on her old desk for me to write. 
It was like my youth started over with love,
poetry began to be written with such strength.
Yes, I was impressionable-
                           she was my salvation. 

My intimate motivation to be more than just
a child knowing nothing but life’s plan for me. 

My Godmother was she and more than just that.
She was my inspiration and yet it still grows. 
Rosella was her name and she wore it with 
such an incomprehensible beauty…outshining
the world with the light her fingers flickered. 
I named my daughter Ella Rose so we could
continue to shine with the gift she created.  

So my family carries the torch she started so young,
and I pray my daughter passes it on to hers alone.
Beautiful rhyme and verses she’s written in hope
but she recently turned to ash and I am left weeping. 
Though she’s gone, my writing lives on through her
memory-
      “I feared no fear when life was at its worst-
      and now for the voice in my pen I do thirst.”
