Poem

A fever in the midst of a winter chill;
a shiver in the heat of the summer sun-
For love is not a choice but the kismet
of undeniable passion and kindness.
And that is what love is to me-
the thing that satisfies my starvation 
and quenches my ambitious thirst.

It frees my inhibitions and has regard
for my soft heart when it’s humbly meek.
Gratifies and satiates my every desire-
answers my longing for reasons as 
to who I am...
        completely and fully. 

For I can be a lost doe in the timbered
wilderness, 
and love bestows its perpetual hope 
like a strong buck protecting me as if
I were his one and only true companion. 

I need not wealth nor riches in life;
fear not dying without knowing the fame
so many yearn to gain-
but today, 
              I say to you-
I only need the kind of love...
      that brings me to my longing knees. 

For there is no other profound emotion
as great as love-
no other action that can soothe a soul
when pain calls its name. 
So, when the ebon sky calls your name
ever so slightly,
when the dread of tomorrow trickles 
down the curve of your back,
       think of me-
and know that I am the love you have
searched for all your life. 

And that is what love is to me, my sweet-
you near me when you are beside me,
or when you are a million miles away.
                       And…
      We shall live on knowing that our love
                            is the fairytale they all envy.
