A Pocket Full of Dreams

What do you do at the end of the day,
When you come to the end of the road?
When you lay down your burdens and enter the rest.
When you lay down life’s heavy load.

What do you do when you walk though the door.
And find all is not what it seems?
For there in your pocket as you walk through that gate.
Is a parcel of unfinished dreams.

Life is so busy with expedient things,
And attend to it all we must.
Voices cry out for attention it seems.
 The turmoil makes quite a fuss.

But what do you do at the end of the road.
When your life is finished and spent?
When you’ve not taken time for the dreams that you had,
Or used the gifts you were lent?
 
Won’t you be sad at the end of the road?
To find it’s not all that it seems
When you reach in your pocket and find waiting there.
A parcel of unfinished dreams.
