New year. 
New dreams.
New fears.
Shackled by a future that is uncertain of promises.
The fear 
Of losing the pages, the years of poetry stenciled on a heart that is too afraid to believe
In the tenacity of her talents. 
Shaken by a world with too many “if’s” 
And not enough “when’s.”
But she has dreams 
That only this new year 
Can cultivate 
Into months, days, and moments 
Of hope filled beauty. 
She’ll believe in a plan that was not designed by her
But rather by the creator of the fires that ignite her bones 
Into life.
She’ll dream of a year 
Where her body can run races again 
And cross finish lines with knee caps 
Stronger than any mountain top.
She’ll run endlessly, painlessly, but most importantly: 
Fearlessly.
She’ll dance to the hymn of a new day. 
Because rhythm is the sunrise of her soul 
And her passion 
Is the sunset. 
Always breathtaking, 
Never disappointing. 
She’ll be courageous, 
Laughing the demons of tomorrow away.  
She’ll be unstoppable,  
With a heart that can consume this world like a furnace. 
So she won’t ever change. 
But rather, 
She’ll pray that 
The world will change
To give her the chance 
To be 
But more importantly 
To become.
