Pure White Cream, On Mother Nature's Welcoming Ground Cream of winter's desserts, wide blankets- fallen snows, balms for child sadness, beauty in splendor that shows. Where resides better memories of Christmas past, greater fun frolicking in the milk laden cold; than that of heaven's ship dropping its white-cast mast venturing forth, so happy, courageous and bold! On rural farm that winter had once made so bleak we kids now found Mother Nature had thus blessed for our school was out for two long, glorious weeks this was paradise, a truth we never confessed! Cream of winter's desserts, wide blankets- fallen snows, balms for child sadness, beauty in splendor that shows. Precious blessed days, snowball fights and warm fires sliding down snow covered hills on crude homemade sleds although freezing cold of such thrills one never tires not even with ears freezing off uncovered heads! Cream of winter's desserts, wide blankets- fallen snows, balms for child sadness, beauty in splendor that shows. Later when tired, somebody yells, now Snowman time, with teamwork we built Mr. Frosty with abandon spending our energy, nary a single dime we built white-castles in our new winter kingdom! Cream of winter's desserts, wide blankets- fallen snows, balms for child sadness, beauty in splendor that shows. Our sisters crying, it is far too cold to stay we boys would laugh loud and start snowball fights again such was bravado, expressing our manly way choosing snow castles, thus our bravery sustain! Cream of winter's desserts, wide blankets- fallen snows, balms for child sadness, beauty in splendor that shows. Yet winter had gifted and now began to speak with its gusty winds and its new blanket cast flakes our fingers grew numb while rosy red grew our cheeks we would decide, a great time for a fireside break! Cream of winter's desserts, wide blankets- fallen snows, balms for child sadness, beauty in splendor that shows. Robert J. Lindley, 12-19-2018 Rhyme, (Christmas, Winter Snows, Childhood Memories) Note. Ok my dear friend, I got your email last night requesting that I write something other than dark poetry and make it about this time of year. I was far too tired to reply but resolved to honor that request in the coming morn. With my first cup of coffee I started this poem this morn and now as my third cup empties I close it. With it, you get the positive, the inspiring, the sweet memories of a child's Christmas school break (Nirvana), beautiful snow, happy times and not a dark shadow, evil beast, raven or wicked fiend roaming about anywhere! Should you think it not enough I can and will write another one. For today, my muse and my mojo are both in tune and my poetic heart seeks to empty its overflowing pen. As Light and positive thinking rules, at least for today.. Thank you for the email and the request, as it stirred me to act..
