Poem
Far from the surging crowd, the aesthetic mass ever loved For,some fascinated to drilling mud, more satiated with coconut ground Most elated admiring flowering buds, all hailed for herbs, spices,Salmon or squid But there came the most tyrannous deluge with a thud! Oh!They called it a massive flood! Dragged the humans like Salmons through the gooey mud Did we not think they were Dud? Yes,the voiceless screams bellowed Ah,we saw water beclouding their beloved! Instantly shrugging very Life blood, But sanguine from young and old deafeningly tongued Loss of hope we knew that no Fund could ever mend For what once they possessed were forever rubbed Of course, for some time, they stood rapt and stunned Soon, they plugged with humankind and together tugged Ah,just cannot articulate in any word! How they won over self-worth when life was succumbed! No one ever knew whom they hugged Like a feeble creeper gripped a pole to ascend They confess that a shoulder is all they culled Understand no race, religion or creed they nudged Pride and discrimination is all they shoved Loss of dear lives in silence, with not much shed of blood Like the swarm of busy bees yet again buzzed Churning the sweetest union in pain they resumed Up upon the greatest height they hummed and trudged Upholding the self-respect and dignity they drudged Though economy deeply slacked and dulled Still it hadn't let the brotherhood lulled Who left the gold skin-pale,blue and numbed, Where it neither bombed nor gunned? Unvoiced but violent stream blocked the blood Neither warning nor cue it summed Many unfortunates went lifeless in silence and scrubbed Disaster, destruction and catastrophe they drummed Hands not but hearts they clubbed Stood upright and upward they thumbed Nobody knows whether it is fund or Superfund! For sure it had some magic that sought no refund Like water on the ink-script,though the lives were smudged Determination and strong-will was never snubbed Luckily neither dejection nor despondency bugged Tears within their eyes, only the survival of folks they mulled The world came in union from in and out together stood Tears down their cheeks, just not survival but living they proclaimed For a while the drumming nature’s tyranny was stubbed That is why may be,the God’s Own Country we dubbed Now,if there emerges another cascade with a thud! They will call it no more a massive flood… ‘Cause, there came the most tyrannous deluge with a thud! Oh!They already called it a massive flood! LONG LIVE KERALA!
