I’m feeling that feeling
I felt in the beginning 
Times flying by 
my minds still spinning
I think I’m losing ground
And my patience is thinning
Getting tangled up in 
the webs Life’s spinning 
Further from where I’ve been 
But no closer to winning 
It’s the bottom of the ninth
And there’s still another inning

I’m taking no prisoners 
I’m coming out swinging
I have dirt on my hands
And I gotta keep digging

Gotta keep praying
to make my way
Gotta keep writing 
To keep the dark at bay
Gotta keep fighting
To keep the light of day
Gotta keep writing
my life to a page

I’m a slave to a grave
I’m a beast when enraged
Like a lion in a cage
So I rage to a page 
Like the blast of a gauge
Until my last breath
And this world fades away

Reality and I are 
Really out of reach
I’m off the chain running
Like a dog off his leash
We don’t see each other
there’s no need for the speech
I gave you what you asked for
I’m no longer in your reach

the time may have passed
But the past doesn’t last
last impression that you made
Is the one that will last

But there’s sunshine in my future 
like a weather forecast
(So) my faith stays strong 
And my feet steadfast

The day I picked a pen up
I started crafting on my art
I’m an artist at heart
And this writing plays it part 
In the story of my life
I remember where it starts
I bleed this ink
It’s the blood in my heart

But Lord forgive me
For the feelings I feel
Cause right now
This feelings too real
I’ve had time to heal
But I’m still trying to deal
Do I have a heart of gold
Or a heart of cold steel

I’m quietly behind the scenes
Writing towards my dream
Walking this path
Is harder than it seems 
This life is tough
And this road is rough
Some days
I’ve just had enough

I don’t need conversation 
That leads to confrontation 
enough aggravation
To fuel my frustration 

My hearts still straining
I’m patiently waiting 
For the day that I’m escaping 
Because the sky stays raining
My focus is refined
And I’m hitting where I’m aiming
These lines lights fires
My word game is flaming
But times slipping by
I can feel the reaper gaining

many years in this fight
Endurance is my Family Crest
chances went by 
moments unaddressed 
Weights getting heavy
I feel it crushing on my chest
I’m trying to endure
I try to give it my best
I can’t fail the lesson
And expect to pass the test
This life is a quest
there’s no treasure chest
The real treasure comes
When the truth is confessed
It becomes manifest
And the Lord says your Blessed

I’m striking like lightning
Cause I’m quick with my verbs
My mind is a book
Overflowing with words
I’ve had my share of standing on curbs 
Went from living in the hood 
To living in the burbs

I’m living proof that success occurs
Every pro was once amateurs
I’ve developed a taste for writing
I’m a word connoisseur
Within these lines
My place is reserved
If I ever leave earth
I hope my time had worth
I know life’s work
But I’m gonna make it work
