Poem

From its purple mountains, 
to its oceans white with foam,
this hurting land is crying out for unity.
This hurting land that bears the guilt
of unborn child sacrifice on the
alter of personal convenience.

This hurting land that bears the pain
of 11- 22 and 9-11-
of the many thousands of youths lost
in senseless wars that were never fought to be won-
of contested elections and corruption 
where no longer blue and gray
but blue and red tear the country asunder.

This hurting land that is crying out for unity-
so much so that “We The People”-
for the proverbial bowl of potage-
have sold the birth right to  
demagogues that promise to be
all things to all the People, but deliver
nothing except disrespect for the
rule of law and contempt for the history
and constitution of our country.
