Poem
Luisa ran from where she’d stood at the approach of the crowd, they wanted no whores on their street, and had told her so fairly loud. Some threw metal cans, road debris, as they pushed on, deadly close, then she found herself in a dead end, no place left for her to go. As they drew near in a frenzy a figure in a trench-coat came, the crowd parted and stared at him, Luisa swore she could feel flames. As he loomed up in the shadows nameless horrors filled her mind, the figure spoke unto the crowd: “You back off, this one is mine…” Andre stumbled out of the bar fumbling hard for his keys, the floozie on his shoulder was dropping drunkenly to her knees. He did not recall all the beers that he’d pounded down inside, just had to get this woman home, get himself between her thighs. A smoker saw him, shouted out, “You’re gonna get people killed!” He knocked Andre down, in disgust, “You’ve both drank more than your fill!” Then a man in a long coat came, and Andre his breath couldn’t find, the man just grinned to the smoker, “Run along, this one is mine…” Karzel sprinted, the cash in hand, as the store clerk shouted to stop, the boys would all respect him now, eight hundred dollars he’d robbed! Then he saw that the clerk was armed, chasing after him with a gun, Karel panicked, tripped on the curb, money flew, seen by every one. “I’m gonna call the cops on you!” Roared the clerk standing over him, then Karzel saw a man’s coat-tails as he came lumbering in. Karzel went cold at the mere sight, seeing no escape from his bind, the figure said to the mad clerk: “Don’t worry, this one is mine…” CONCLUDES IN PART II
