Poem

No daylight in the womb,
No light in the tomb,
And sometimes it seems
The end comes not too soon

For whatever reason,
We come into this world,
It's sometimes a challenge
Where logic is curled
Into some self-serving
nonsense too hard to understand,
And where everyone's motives
Seems underhand

And time becomes a trap
We're desperate to escape,
And the one you do love,
Has someone else kissing
her nape,

And most of the people you love,
Are dead and long gone,
And you struggle each day,
For a reason to go on

And the harder you try,
The harder it gets,
And it seems to you
Everyone just forgets...
When you strode on the stage
In fancier clothes,
And things you accomplished,
Nobody any longer now knows

At times like this
You have but one friend,
Who'll suffer your fate,
No matter the end

That's your faith in youself,
And damn all the rest,
They've tried to drown you,
But you've passed every test

And what it boils down to,
And what it all means,
Regardless of fortune,
And whatever it seems
To be your destiny in this life,
Your ultimate ally
Is yourself 
For you alone know
What you meant it to be,
And more often than not,
No one else can see

If you have done your best,
With whatever you have,
And harmed no one maliciously,
This thought may you salve,
You have succeeded far beyond
The greatest of dreams,
For you came into this world
And knew what it means
To do what you saw as 
what is right,
And finally saw
 that golden sunlight.
