Poem
I've got a million reasons to live I've got a million smiles I've hid. I know a little place in the sun I know it ain't good to run. Save the man who saves the world Give that man a golden girl. Praise the man who praises love. Give him hope and dreams above. I caught a ride into L.A. Stayed for half a day. Met a girl she was so weird She kept all the earth in a tear. Give me love and give me dreams Keep your armies and your green. Shout the words of rock and roll, Take a chance and pay the toll. I've got something on my mind been with me for a long time. It doesn't help to cry: I saw my father die. I saw that girl at a bar she saw me, and looked away far. I asked her how'd she been, she shook her head and ran and ran and ran. Love and hope and trust, you know You've taken it all away. And I can't believe my calls are never heard and I know you're there, and I know you're cured. And you've taken it all away. We crossed our lives and then our fingers We crossed the country one memory still lingers. And you've taken it all away. If only you'd trust me, if only I'd move on. If only you'd call If only I could. Taken it all away. My pockets are empty your voice is so much. The same I cry when we don't touch. And you've taken it away. Your face on a photo your body on my mind. If only I'd call, if only you were mine again. And you've taken it all away. Scribbled pages bunched, when now I see us dying, I never knew your soul, you never knew you were lying. And you've taken it all away. Been gone so long now that it seems I never left Seems that the memories just leave me now. When we were younger, and no treason was at hand there was no need to laugh so loud. When the truth comes into play, there's really nothing left to say. But you can hide, in the shadows of your mind. Or you can just fade away. Now that you've grown up I love to sing the tales of all the things we used to do. Seems you've grown too old to remember the times when all I had to do was think of you. When the rain comes into your eyes. You bleed the pain that rapes the skies. But if you coldly whisper my name, maybe we'll both go insane. Or maybe we'll just fall away.
