Poem

All Hallows Eve, that spooky night,
          She hiked the mountain path at length,
               And tho' it took most of her strength,
     The moon had never shined so bright!

A rough two-hour climb, the trail -
          Three steepened spars, a mile each,
               'Til then, at last, she found the reach,
     The glowing moon, then ghostly pale.

Her breath was taken by the view -
          The distant hills soft-daubed in snow,
               A slithering river, far below ...
     The beauty struck her, thru-and-thru!

She stood there on the rocky shelf,
          And found it such a brilliant sight,
               Perhaps there was enough moonlight
     To take a photo of herself ................

They never saw the girl again,
          But traced her tracks up there one day -
               No sign of struggle or foul play,
     Her cell phone where she last had been. 

And when they did a selfie check,
          They found one pic - the very last,
               Her eyes in terror, mouth aghast ...
     Two large, gaunt hands ... around her neck.
