Why do we live unhappy lives
Broken in the heart, blinded by the lies.
Why can I not see the truth
Love has gone away, shattered dreams of youth.

Always wrapped around your fingers
Believing every word you say.
It’s not me who hears your whispers
Another listens every day.

Why do I sit here ‘til it’s late
Footsteps in the dark, I just sit and wait.
Why can I not numb the pain
Broken in the heart, loving you in vain.

Pretence and more denial
I smell her perfume on your shirt.
Heart must harden for survival
Protect myself from constant hurt.

Why continue with this life
Sun no longer shines, I can't be your wife. 
Why not stop and let me go
Sorrow lingers close, I am not your beau.
 
Waiting for your comfort and caresses
I crave what now has gone.
I can’t taste the sweetness of your kisses
Another gets, what I so long.

Why don’t you just walk away
Leave me on my own, I don’t want you to stay.
Why can’t you hear what I have said
Bitter taste is left, soon no longer Wed.

I won’t be wrapped around your fingers
I won’t hear a single word you say. 
Feelings no longer linger
I just get stronger every day.

Why do we live unhappy lives.
Broken hearts will mend, open up your eyes
