Poem
I failed in love the very first time Held it so briefly ... it felt like a heart-melting, virgin kiss snowflake Made a promise to myself, not to repeat the same mistake Took a second glance at a possible rumba romance It lasted ... a little longer, until the last dance of the evening Found out that I was given a digital polite kiss no Often heard that the third time is the charm So I was match-maker open to giving this heart burn another chance Couldn’t believe a blind date would be so left third row opera elegant But from the midnight chime to the third sabbath cock crow, I saw another dove love wing kiss my moon dream out the window Feeling so unlucky in love, I rubbed by ring finger impatiently Four baton voices later, I didn’t feel I was getting any closer to a special somebody Going up and down this mood platonic relationship escalator ... by revolving door fate, I opened up once more in a stuck elevator Closing four walls of constant insecure comparisons Gave my fatigued heart a four-leaf clover goodbye kiss, welcomed with bliss With my heart closed empty, I could feel the hourglass sand slipping thru my hand So afraid of the fifth iteration, my doubting thoughts were shyly revealed: Always anxiously awaiting for affection I thought was long overdue Never understanding this late date advice teary-too-da-loo: Love was an unexpected passenger on a train that never came on schedule The fifth iteration carried a fading recurrence of broken vows echoed anew While resting on a park bench, a perfumed breeze caused me to turn and gaze at butterfly eyes They fluttered a gentle greeting, which carried a sweet scent of flowering possibilities And with rose petal lips, she gave me a blossoming kiss tomorrow ... setting my pierced heart at ease with a sunflower glow The palm of my heart is now open, ready to gladly receive life’s down pour Knowing there’s a rainbow kiss, enchantingly waiting for me gardening my home Over yonder ... far from where the always recurring, tear-evaporated pain has gone
