Poem
For I am departing tomorrow and the sun shall gleam, the eventide shall ascend and the moon shall beam. Forget me not when I wither away, yet please remind yourself that I am in heaven where the stars have aligned. I pray to all of you I have been charitable and kind. When you miss my voice may you take comfort in a dream. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Love is the benevolence, and hope is faith given in unanimity, for conviction is a way of life lived with sincere harmony. May war find a truce and peace turn into unification, and consonance become a way of life’s God-given creation. Trust in all things that bring certitude and veneration. You may lose your way in approach, don’t forfeit your identity. Material items or wealth cannot confer joy in living, yet riches of the heart and soul are found in giving. Free yourself from greed and lust, be true to your essence, and in moments of mistake you must learn the convalescence. Purity in laughter awards a smile and quintessence. When injured by mankind may you teach to be forgiving. Proper health in our bodies can determine our existence. Acceptance is crucial, you must live without resistance. To all things that prosper your life, you must surrender, and free yourself from harsh words, speak words of tender. Approval is never something that you should render. Reach for the gates of heaven and travel the distance. Delight can be found in the laughter of a child, for they are living evidence you can be gently mild. Take comfort in your daughter’s embrace with gratitude, give her the space she needs when she has a poor attitude. You may find frustration in your son’s impeding mood, but never forget his sweet birth and the way you smiled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This sagacity I have learned and shall pass it onto you. Remember the love we shared when your heart is blue. I regret not one thing while living on this beautiful earth, and I am full of gratitude for my marvelous birth. For I have lived a life full of compassion and self-worth... I pray that you find this prudence from my heart to be true. *I know this may be an epitaph, but this would definitely be my final poem on this earth and I want this to be read at my funeral* Rhyme Scheme: A-A-B-B-B-A My Muse, Mortal Poetry Contest Gregory Barden June 23, 2018
