“Going To Walmart to Find Jesus”

Living in the fast lane is getting me down,
I worry about money, and am near a mental breakdown.
Debts are mounting and we’re heading for war,
I don’t trust the newspapers and the government anymore.
But I know God almighty is up there and he sees us,
I’m going to Walmart to find Jesus!

Am parking my car in the crowded lot,
Other Walmarters are coming out with what they bought.
Carrying bags and boxes filled with salvation and joy,
After standing in endless lines designed to annoy.
But I know God almighty is up there and he sees us,
I’m going to Walmart to find Jesus!

Am following this lady with tight skirt and no bra,
Surely with a build so robust and firm she hasn’t a flaw.
But her basket is filled with bitterness and hate,
It is this way, from city to city, and state to state.
But I know God almighty is up there and he sees us,
I’m going to Walmart to find Jesus!

Am watching this dude with tattooes test-tasting the grapes,
I wonder from how many prisons he planned his escapes.
Now I realize he is like all the rest of us, Americans out to survive,
Struggling everyday from sunrise to sunset to stay alive.
But I know God almighty is up there and he sees us,
I’m going to Walmart to find Jesus!

Now I’m scanning my entire life with visa credit card in hand,
First come the frozen things, then all the fools I can’t stand.
Ringing up the total for all that my existence depends on,
Now I ‘m paying the balance for another golden dawn.
But I know God almighty is up there and he sees us,
I’m going to Walmart to find Jesus!
