Poem
moonlight ... dancing on wave tops ... like a million silver doubloons, spilling filling the coffers of my dark heart, serene I breathe the glorious evening breeze pull it deep into the reach of my being as though it was my last ... and first … its warm summer magic cleanses my mind, pure and with but an instant spent, renews my very essence - worries cast to the deep like a black stone swallowed by the moment … and my reverie you ... are here, always unknown to you, your spirit haunts this place and greets me with this little miracle every time, day or night, that my feet touch this sand, you are beside me, quiet and peaceful - the sparkle in your eye, glinting the knowing half-smile, crimping your cheeks a waft of Je Reviens mixing with sea mist your fingers between mine in perfect symmetry and the excitement of the passion to come here … among the beam-softened dunes … this is summer to me these sultry evenings of romance immersed the in sounds and smells and sights of the sea those warm, moonlit tendrils that reach inside - that thrum the heartstrings and spirit that shake and squeeze the complacency from my being and make me feel so ... alive for as long as I draw breath and savor it YOU will walk with me at these times your memory will dance on the warm air of July your eyes will sparkle at me from the moon-daubed surf your lust for life will tickle the cool sand under my feet and all the warm months and oceans will whisper your name in my ear and spin the trembling chambers of my heart it is you - your spirit - that will always be my special joy my warm, vibrant, exciting anticipation of life my sweet, tender, seductive kiss ... of summer. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Strand Pick 9, Any Theme, Any Form" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 6th Place ~ in the "Summer Fun" Poetry Contest, Nayday Ivette Negron, Judge & Sponsor.
