Dreams get my hopes up, and Expectations only lead to heartbreak 
I can deal with my nightmares, because Many times I've been trapped in a dark place
I know they say that life isn't as hard as it seems
I can deal with my nightmares, so can you rescue me from my dreams? 

I've overcame every obstacle thrown my way, what is there for me to fear? 
I've battled demons, and became depressions nightmare
Because I fight like Tyson in his prime and don't know how to quit
I'll keep my head above the water, never will I drown in it

When it comes to dreams I'm not as strong
So many times I've followed my heart and it went wrong
I fall in love quick, But I hide my feelings like they don't exist
Never did I think I could get so hurt from such an amazing kiss

My nightmares brought me more comfort than my dreams ever could
I got attacked by monsters, and healed myself with no one around to clean the blood 
I never had a family, I learned how to survive alone
I learned to make it through a storm and not panic about not being inside a home

My dreams caused me more stress than my nightmares 
My dreams gave me false hope, my night terrors, taught me to fight fears
Dreams lead to expectations that destroy you more
That's why I stay in reality, what else would I avoid them for? 

Battling depression has made My nightmares my comfort zone
I know how to control it, It's just something I have to stomach alone
Dreams lead to heartbreak because we follow them unwisely 
To get hurt from another dream, I don't know if I have it inside me
