CROSSROADS Standing at the crossroads when I saw a signpost pointing to HellWhen curiosity befell me and, with an interest I so needed to quell Looking over my shoulder to see if anyone might just be looking onWith the coast clear up that road and without hesitation I was gone All seemed normal as farmers in their fields went about with their toilAs they churned over the dry land with horses to gain new fresh soil No darken wood, a Grim Reaper with his scythe or beady eyed crowsLeaving me thoughtful as just too where this long winding road goes As bird’s ducking and diving within the hedgerows were chirping alongFeeling safe in my own solitude I croaked out in a broken voice a song Amazing Grace - how sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like meI once was lost, but now am found Was blind but now I seeThrough many dangers, toils, and snaresI have already come'Tis grace that brought me safe thus farAnd grace will lead me homeWhen we've been there ten thousand yearsBright, shining as the sunWe've no less days to sing God's praiseThan when we first begunAmazing Grace - how sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like meI once was lost, but now am foundWas blind but now I seeWas blind but now I see I sang myself joyfully up that winding road and then up beyondAnd fearing not should Hell and its Satan demon would respond Until I reached its highest peak - settled to gain my well-earned restAnd to a realization that the road to Hell was none other than a test In my own curious deliberation of querying of just what Hell was all aboutHad walked the path of righteous that in the end gave me more to shout I once was lost - but now am found - was blind but now can seeI went fearing nothing but just how that road to Hell set me free
