Poem
I hear a song from the sky, A light-hearted melody... Light from the heavens above, Please pour down your holy love. All I want is to feel your grace, And wear it like a divine glove. I only live to serve my Lord, Who composes my life, a lovely chord, And allows me to live a good life. To repay him...that I can’t even afford. But as shadows of grief appear, The song starts to darken... But why have you given me this? To make hate replace my bliss? I knew it would happen, but why now? To make my heart an abyss? Is this just part of your test? Or is this just what you think is best? All I know is that whatever it is... You’re my Lord, I can’t detest. As the shadows start to fade, The song again slightly brightens... But forever, my life will go on. In heaven or in hell, I won’t be gone. And I know that they won’t be, But their life is far foregone. It makes no sense how I feel... Mercurial emotions I can’t conceal Changing in the blink of an overseeing eye, I no longer know what’s fake and what’s real. Then it turns to a fiery red, To an unforgiving tone... I now have no reason to live. I have nothing more to give. You have taken all I have. I no longer wish to forgive. Lord, I do repent against you now. This I know you will not allow, So throw me into fire if you wish, But it’s your fault I won’t bow. Anger fades as the song Remembers it is its own undoing. God, I am now dying inside. Please help me, don’t hide. I need you now more than ever. I’m not done my lifelong ride. I have one tiny wish to make, That you could give me a small break, From my living hell of a life, And let me sleep awake. Familiar words repeat themselves, One last time, they sing. Light from the heavens above, Please pour down your holy love. All I want is to feel your grace, And wear it like a divine glove. I only live to serve my Lord, Who composes my life, a lovely chord, And allows me to live a good life. To repay him...that I can’t even afford. And then the song ends, A melody of life and death. Entered into Brian Strand's 445th contest 5/22/18 I hope you like it Kinda based on Sea Song by Gregory R Barden, with the style and all
