Poem
{Verse-1} She was sleeping, on the bed of my truck Under a blanket, in the cool night breeze The moon was peeking from a cloud ,as the lightning struck The light from the screen, showed me her beauty Still can't believe she's at, the Drive-In show with me A sweet girl from a family, on the other side of town I was fallin' in love, she was fallin' to sleep Then the clouds opened up, and the rain came pourin' down {Chorus} Tonight those April rains, fell here in July Washing away all her pains, she had in her eyes Tonight those April rains, fell down from the sky Helping her forget his name, and even all his lies But those April Rains can't wash away All these feelings, I have for her tonight {Verse-2} She woke, and took me by the hand Her wet hair, clinging to her face As we got inside the cab, she snuggled up to me Looked into my face and said ,you are my dearest friend I placed my arm around her, just to keep her warm I kissed her on the forehead, oh why did I pretend As the heat from the heater, dried her glistening hair We slept there in my truck, as the movie played {Chorus} Tonight those April rains, fell here in July Washing away all her pains, she had in her eyes Tonight those April rains, fell down from the sky Helping her forget his name, and even all his lies But those April Rains, can't wash away All these feelings, I have for her tonight {Verse-3} When the sun came up, in the morning She smiled at me and said, wish you weren't such a doll And as I drove her home, she sit and held my hand I Told her when she needs a friend, not to be afraid to call But one thing I couldn't tell her, was that I loved her so Then she looked at me and said, You are my dearest friend And when she crawled down from my truck, she kissed me and said goodbye That's when I felt those April rains, falling from my eyes {Chorus} Tonight those April rains, fell here in July Washing away all her pains, she had in her eyes Tonight those April rains, fell down from the sky Helping her forget his name, and even all his lies But those April Rains, can't wash away All these feelings, I had for her last night
