In 2024 the breakthrough came which solved two scientific dilemmas simultaneously: 1. Brain transplants into human mortal bodies with limited life spans were far too expensive. 2. Robot computers could never emulate the complexity and learning ability of human brains. The break-through solution was to download human brains into robot receptor computers and memory: Not willy-nilly but to 'Willy' , 'Nelly' and 'Neither' the male, female and neuter robots initially designed as hosts. Organic brain transplants to robots were too messy, too complex and too mortal as the organic nerve network brains would eventually die despite all efforts and good intentions. No, the solution was a total brain download via software conversion and download to a robot brain computer that emulated the human brain, pre-wired to connect to all the robot arms legs, eyes and other parts. Such robots models initially became more and more human like with all the six senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch and extrasensory perception and unique personalities. You could choose your preferred model - based on price, features, appearance and capability. But as time moved on, more and more exotic models were developed that drifted away from the organic human prototype to alien forms. Hominids in organic human form gradually died out and became extinct as no one wanted mere mortal human beings any more. Human evolution moved beyond the flaws of natural selection to immortal software upgrade enhancements. Immortal humanoid robots were a much better prospect especially as the ability to breed robot babies developed. These robot offspring had personalities derived from combining software downloads from the parents with extra traits thrown in. Baby robots could also be made to resemble their parents physically as well. Humanoid robot families ruled modern earth beginning in 2024, transforming to shiny new exotic over-the-moon models every year. The old mother earth became a zoo, kept for old times sake, with some old-timer humans kept in suspended animation as reminders of how it all began. The bonus outcome was that Humanoid robots were free to go anywhere. They populated the Moon, Mars and Beyond. These machines could live anywhere there was an energy supply, a power point for battery recharge, and a repair and upgrade outlet. 2024 was the Start of the Machine Age - The Reign of the Inorganic!
