Translation is the rendering of a poem from one language into another while trying to preserve its meaning, tone, imagery, rhythm, and sometimes rhyme or line breaks. Because poetry depends so much on sound, word choice, and cultural nuance, a translator often has to balance accuracy with the feel of the original.
