Words

Popularity poetry words are read
Unlike the unpopular
This brings to mind a contest
Between words and sounds

How popular must one be
For their words to be heard
Does one write to be popular
Or do they write from the heart

The book of psalms was written
Between 1010 and 930 BC
Its popularity has surpassed time
Found between 800 and 1000 AD

So, your poetry may take awhile
To become popular among all
No matter who sees it our reads it today
One day your words maybe known

To All

Boby, your poetry was thought-provoking and enlightening. From the first to the last line, this stanza is fantastic. If one wants to know how well-known or liked he is, he will quickly run out of ideas. However, he should not write with the goal of drawing a large audience. But only to communicate one's deepest ideas and emotions. Added to Fave.

I'd like to think that all poets write to fulfill a need to express their thoughts. Whether my poetry is appreciated or not, I have a sense of accomplishment in knowing what I post comes from my feelings, personal or observances. I don't look at writing as a means to gain popularity. I don't feed a poet with comments that I don't sincerely mean. I don't enter contests to be atop any list, for if I did, I'd enter every available one. My heart is an open book to read, and so are these comments.
