Author's Notes: This particularly special write presents a brief story and depicts a scene about three wild roses frozen in ice that are found by someone at the edge of a frozen pond out in the countryside. The notion with this poem, obviously, is to capture the symbolic wonder and image-laden essence of this very special moment, and to relate the passionate and emotional way in which this discovery affected the person in this poem in a very moving fashion. Wild Roses in Ice

At the
very edge
of a
frozen pond
during
the
ice-cold
Winter
deep
in an
old
country
forest—
unbelievably
I gaze upon
three
wild roses
frozen
in a
block
of ice
as part
of the
larger
ice flow.

These
roses
at the
pond’s
very edge
are
rosy-red
radiant
beautiful
and even
redolent
although
encased
they are
in the
frozen
ice.

These
rosy-red
roses
appear
to be
perfectly
set
in a
straight
order—
horizontally
just like . . .
1-2-3.

A
wondrously
enchanting
sight from
Mother Nature
for sure—
bringing
a big
smile
to my
face
whilst
capturing
my thoughts
and
stirring
my emotions
and
touching
the
very core
of
my being
and
my heart
and
my soul
forever!

Hello Darlene, Thanks for your read of this special write of mine. Roses are a favorite of mine as well. And, I would be thinking the same thing that you mentioned about wondering how the three red wild roses got there in the first place, let alone in a straight, horizontal order. Mother Nature, I would add, does move in mysterious ways!! LOL!! Have a wondrous weekend!! Gary

Gary you've painted a magical painting of roses in ice; I love roses, my favorite flowers, by far. Ice, like crystals and amber can capture some beautiful and amazing gifts of Nature and present them in magical ways. Beautifully penned. Thanks for the lovely read; had to Fav.

Hello Connie, Many Thanks for your gracious words and observations here!! Yes, I am very nature conscious in fact as you've noted above. That's why the several Imagism poems I posted this year are quite relevant in this regard with their various relationships with nature and nature events in general. Very glad you liked this one!! Best Wishes, Gary
