Undoing What You Have Done

I will try and hide the
mushroom cloud and restore
the skinless bodies, I will
un-char the charred, reassemble
the dead children, I will then
un-vitrify the rocks and the sand and
rebuild cities and cafes and hope;

undoing your atrocities is high
on my list, just
leave me enough milk
for morning

Dear clive for some reason when i read this i felt sad, especially the last line: as today we see so much of what youv said with metaphors, all around the world, and its heart wrenching really. And i think you have captured and expressed all that very well! But i must also highlight “ mushroom cloud and restore the skinless bodies, I will un-char the charred,” mushroom cloud! I dont think iv read that anywhere! Thats clever ! I love it! Pleasure reading this moving powerful write!

Hello Clive, So well said and quite the twist that we care in the mind, but our actions are not always forthcoming. Reading your poem this morning, all I could think about his Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the potential of something in the future. Great Write! - Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Yes I used nuclear war as a metaphor for all the bad we do whether to the planet or our fellow people and the second stanza the metaphor that we ought to sort ourselves out but it might take "all night". Glad you understood and appreciated it, thanks Daniel
