Rocks

Water cascades over the rocks and gladly sends my thoughts

Silently the water flows downstream and gathers speed

Your memory fades as does the water

My heart bleeds as it tumbles over the jagged rocks

Your kiss lingers and is snagged by the fallen tree

Lips mangled, torn and I swim one last time

I am the hero as I glide towards your waiting lips

But I tire quickly and I fight the urge to quit

Your voice fades and the water

Keeps pushing me but the urge moves me

Those lips quiver as the tree releases

And I swim toward the bank and I watch you slip over the smooth rocks

Around the bend and I glance once more

But all is quiet but the trickling
