Perhaps - Just Perhaps

Perhaps love is the answer
    but maybe not
Perhaps utopia is coming
    but maybe not
Perhaps we will be "saved"
by one of the various messiahs
people speak of
    but maybe not
Perhaps - just perhaps
we must rely on our own strength and
convictions
to carry us through the years
Pray to whatever god or gods you wish
It all boils down to the fact
that as the sun begins
    to fade
it is time to gather our strength
Prepare for the upcoming years
    Perhaps - just perhaps
we can have a brillant future
with luck and good old fashioned
    persistence
to guide us through

- Perhaps, go barefoot in the grass ... Smile along with others .... Lie on your back and look at the stars .... - So easy and so difficult .... - What if we try to turn on a bit on what we do ? - Perhaps we should rather go for more walks in the woods? ... Sing more in the shower? ... Or laugh a little more? -Perhaps ... we should be happy with our own lives and good old fashioned persistence, Matthew :) - Lovely written, my friend :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

The essence of your poem I found in these lines: with luck and good old fashioned persistence to guide us through. I felt the hesitation in your poem on prospects of a bright future. Love always carries the day in difficult times. You said it well, Matthew.
