Not a Mystery

It's no mystery

    the tools
    the engineering

    just the understanding
    of forces

the way

    Robert Frost walks
    a neighboring wall *

raising

    fell'd stones
    to reverse gravity

That's all we do
    all the time
    reverse gravity

The poem's talk

    of commons too
    beside the futile labor

It's just math

in
    simple terms
    a simple truth
    that governs

and love

which
lifts no stony hope for sinners
. no neighbor to argue their side

as
       night's legions
       never bare children
       and silence
       has no say

Only math
Just math

where
    radii might
    transit a point

Not love

Just gravity

and
        death
        YOUR death

        Just to die
        or die just

My mother died

A law governs

but love

     with no measure
     no rule confounds

to see

      beyond our waking
      the proverbial heart

not physiologos

    . transectal

    . geocromes

    . that strike the minus

( a kind of understanding )

but love's

transgenomes unbinding

in

                   space
    . time
                                  form

in

    exhalations capitulation

' heart throws
   the strike-line

    beyond
    star's intransigence

    stands-in
    for an absent moon

and
    sketches out
    the ashen eye's refrain

where

        the rule of
    . no command
    . commands
    . no thing

as

      line &
            light &
                   labor
                           fail

Robert, I think I recall Mending Wall but only vaguely. I like how you did your free verse here. the formatting is very cool!

Thanks Andrea. "Something there is that doesn't love a wall" --- The proverb “Good fences make good neighbors” is old. Found in Poor Richard’s almanac Format felt right.
