My Life Goal

huddled up berries pasted against the glass
room full of strangers I don't want to know
draw a fish, a star, a sun, a moon
anything to avoid what's in this room
voices don't reach me
I am not engaged
berries in a glass
smell like spring
we are connected
through miles of mountain trail
bushy green meadows
bustling with bees
bursting with blooms
blue sky bending over
red rocky hills
while
shrill voices
abuse the world
with good intentions
my golden years
my life goal
is to hear you
                      somehow
                       and feel
the peace
of green meadows
and red rocky hills

Hi Steven, I admire your ability to write free verse which as you've already discovered, not my natural inclination. But hopefully reading your work like this one will help my learning curve. My favorite line: "shrill voices abuse the world." Too many shrill voices in the world today. Thanks for the free, free verse lesson. R/Terry

Awe, you flatter me. You're free verse was bomb. I wrote some rhymes today and my free verse is gone ;) Rhyming is too addictive. Thanks for commenting, Terry!
