Lighting Strikes

As the lightning strikes
A shooting star fly's by
Maybe that's what the appeal was
Never wearing high heels on a Saturday night
But she was a gypsy girl at heart
As free as the wind in the trees
I watched her as she moved
Yet, with all her toes and fingers moving
She held a jar of emotions
Locked up inside her
She always had a way of standing
Above her circumstances
How I wished to be more like her

Jars eventually break and emotions come rushing out at the most inopportune moments. Perhaps she should consider sharing her feelings instead (on her own terms of course).

Debbie, you are a master observer of human qualities and behaviors including having a wonderful self-awareness. I am fine, just so overworked right now that I can't focus on poetry much at all. I think and am hoping I will have some space in my life after this week. Deadlines----ugh!! I am up early this morning to get started, but I thank you for pulling me back to your beautiful words.
