I Remember You

                          I Remember You

              I remember your God-like hands
giving wet clay life and purpose.

              I remember your chiseled jaw,
your jet-black beard ~ soft like downy feathers.

I remember your grief, the hollow
in your eyes, masked by a generous smile.

              Your wounded heart ~
              broken in shards of deceit.

The walls of your studio echoing~
              emptiness flooding your heart.

              I remember the eerie silence
              that hung from the noose

               of your shattered life.

              I remember cradling your limp
              body in my helpless arms.
