I danced …

with an echo -
it knew your name
the notes spun about me like embers that
waltz in the breaths of flame
and die in darkness …
its final iteration whispered me of
your passion’s secret -
wrapped its lilting fingers ‘round my hope
and strangled it like a lover …
one last, loud kiss
pressed to my ears in delicate sin
then drowned in the depths of
an aching, exquisite
seductive sea …

of silence.
