Flood

now I'm not that explosion of creative and unsettling ideas
knocking on the brain's door
even the boxes full of original thoughts do not serve me
with their disproportionate profusion now dimmed
when yesterday's big rain nearly flooded the street
I noticed the drain acting decisively to prevent flooding
maybe the same is happening inside the mind
an instance of the intellect acting as a brake
could be suppressing the flow of words and images
I'm looking for the right trigger that releases these gears
maybe reality is being heavier than fiction
or else this could be the concentration time
when the volume of information grows
to then be released as a spurt of transcendental poetry

Dear Marco, your creative expression is filled with thoughtful, metaphorical beauty. You portray “the intellect acting as a brake” with intelligent artistry.. a trait I admire. The last line is a grand finale to a striking piece. Love the title too. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
