Small Town Cop

Alternating red and blue, police car siren blaring.
My heart is thumping wildly. I wave and blow him a kiss,
But he doesn't notice. He is on the job, not caring.
And since I'm driving slowly, a chance meeting I'm going to miss.

Had he wings, he would be the Heavenly Angel Michael.
But he is an honest cop who watches for speeders on the road.
His manner is courteous; his aura is physical,
Yet, his peaceful brow is smooth, tending not to furrow hold.

Today, I see him at the curb writing a citation.
I wave, I wink, and blow a kiss as I drive on by.
Though my heart is bursting with daily infatuation,
It is those California girls who always catch his eye.

It would be one way to meet a cop. Cops have the hardest job in the world. Can't we all behave? Thank you for reading my poem.

A nearby town has this occurrence frequently. Big city vacationers forget speed limits when they come to rural areas. Thank you for the like..

Lovely poem. It may be worth chancing a ticket...who knows. Is the pen mightier than the heart?

Now here is the real story. Most of the cops in this town are married. And as stated, it's a small town. So it is easy to meet the cops, doctors, farmers etc at the community events and fundrsisers.

Very interesting confession of your infatuation for the city cop. I think he is so lovable with his diligence and commitment to his duty. Try your luck once more. If he doesn't respond, forget him... :)

Not a personal happening, though I've seen several attractive cops. I often personalize poems. I think I have an alter ego.

This is a cute one Hilda. Loved the imagery here. Surely this good cop knows he won't make any friends writing tickets. This made me smile. God Bless, JB

Interesting write, Hilda... Cop is in a small town, but neither is he 'Andy of Mayberry,' nor is he Barney... As for your kisses, keep at it. Sooner or later, this "Mr. Boynton" (from 'Our Miss Brooks') of police officers will come around. And never forget, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. lol. gw

Thank you. There is no actual love interest but it made good rhyme. I guess I will always write stories in poems.

Oh, this is quite an interesting piece. I absolutely love the rhyming flow here as well as the nuances of the situation, when seeing that cop. I haven't been pulled over for speeding yet, because well, I just turned 18 and driving license is yet to be achieved haha :) I truly like this write, it's lovely!

Thank you . Please note: the author was not speeding. This was the reason she could not get the cop's attention.
