Heat Relief

Summer heat was getting oppressive
the humidity hung heavily in the air
the breath was starting to labour
as the heat brought on sweat
it started to soak into clothes
feeling similar to a wet rag
draining all your energy
as you tried to find comfort
under a shaded umbrella
even the ants were not crawling
nor were the birds chirping merrily
no frog or cricket song was heard
the stifling heat caused stillness
as all creatures headed to find shade
the sun rays beat over the land
evening finally brought relief
as the sun's orb sank on the horizon.

Hey, lady, looks like you wrote this on the day of my anniversary , my 47th. How long have YOU been married now? (too long, right? hahaha) I think your poem here totally describes to the tee , the sweltering oppressiveness of humid heat.

Thanks John. I do not pay attention to global warming because weather is not much different than other years. All a big hype if you ask me. Hope your health has improved. love phyl

Thanks for your comment. It has been a very hot summer and I have enjoyed time outside. I have not accepted any new f b friends as do not wanted to be hacked anymore so I do not open a lot of things. It still throws me out at times so guess I really do need a new computer as mine is so very old. love phyl
