Notes About The Poem

Charlie's Two Seven Four Contest ~ August 26, 2025

Autumn Zephyrs tsf

Wind blows Fall's leaves around. Tumbling without mumbling a sound. The tree then grieves its loss. Watching them tossed upon the ground. Autumn zephyrs bluster as leaves fluster, wither and die. Nature's last call sends them twirling. swirling alone... goodbye.

Wow. The internal rhyming made this extra special. A first place for me!

I truly appreciate your comments, Andrea. I left the same message on your 2nd place, which also deserved to be among the plethora of firsts.

Brilliant. I cannot emulate, I'm afraid. Your contest entry should get first place. Victor

Lin, I like Charlies contest, and the 274 form because it streamlines the poem, and keeps it balance and neat. You did a great job.

My driveway at the moment is testament to your poem Lin! I’ve never thought of the tree as grieving for its fallen leaves, no more than shedding old skin, the cycle of life personified quite emotively here, cheers David

I've always had a soft spot for fallen leaves. A bit unrealistic, but short-lived when Spring has them reappearing. Thanks a lot for your life cycle thoughts, David. Your driveway will clear itself when the first stiff wind comes along. ;-)

Lin, thanks for this perspective. I am thinking why leaves fall. The tree can't supply them with nourishment in the winter and cuts them off. In a way, like a jilted lover. All pretty sad stuff, but nature seems to be full of some pretty hard choices. Just for the privilege of being specialized, we lose our longevity. Even the needles on pines eventually die and fall off. I am sweeping them up all the time, and now will do so with a slightly more sad understanding.

There's a long-term plan for many things. Mankind is not counted in that number... like a jilted lover. Good comparison, but at least we don't change mated with the coming and going of each season. ;-) Thanks, Duke.
