i submitted my poem - Steve Meadows's Blog

<P><FONT size=4>I&nbsp;am going to submit my poem "Life Cycle" to the childrens magazine "Highlights for Kids" this is the letter i sen.t&nbsp;I am still editing it so some feedback would be great.</FONT></P> <P>&nbsp;</P><FONT face=Arial> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Hello my name is Steven, I am 16 years old. I have been writing poetry. I have a poem that I think would be good for your magazine entitled: Life Cycle do you think you would be interested in putting it in your magazine?</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Life Cycle</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">The sidewalk ends into a ditch</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">From that ditch there grows a tree</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">The tree grows to its peak</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">From the peak of the tree </P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">There is a nest</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">A bird’s nest</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">In the nest there are some eggs</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Robin eggs</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">They hatch and out come baby Robbins</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Mama bird feeds them worms</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">They learn to fly</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">They go to find their own tree to nest</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Life cycle</P> <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></FONT></P> <P>&nbsp;</P>

Date: 7/20/2009 4:18:00 PM I hope you addressed it to Dear Editor_____. I always close my cover letters with something like--Thank you for your time. You should also include your mailing address. If the editor decides to use your work, they may send a complimentary copy. There should be something at Barnes and Noble on manuscript preparation or maybe even on the web. Some editors only read submissions that are professionally put together. A little research is well worth the effort. Best wishes with publication. Karen Login to Reply
