WAR AT MEGIDDO---David or Caesar?
Now the barricades were broken, this was the last of the Cohorts, 450 swordsmen against Israel’s 200 men standing face-to-face in the heat of war. Rome was “death” itself, Israel was the many men inside the boots of belief, Gods voice the only whistle heard in their midst while they watched Caesar’s men wait for Caesar’s last order!!
The two Camps, both eyes-in-eyes, stumps pierced with spears, swords broken in pieces, dead souls and helmets of glory---the only painting that divides both battalions---began to fizzle away into nothingness as Caesars eyes were fixed on David’s; his black horse standing still like monument and his right fist slowly breaking through the whistles of the wind and falling downwards signifying: “A-D-V-A-N-C-E”.
Flags began to beat, the Romans began their march, 450 men left, 450 swords clasping against shields, 450 “Caesars best” looking strange in the eyes of David, ready to fight for glory, for honor, for immortality with their battle drumbeats beginning to fill the atmosphere; their eyes fixed on one another’s skull, their foots strangling every strand of grass and Israel their last cup of water to be drank…
Now 100 seconds away from clash, David’s blood was hot, he like Caesar had a good battle record; he dared Goliath in the past and had the birds of the air feast on his head, he battled in battles such that his sword got stuck to his hand like glue and his body temperature got diluted with the sword in a manner that he forgot he was even holding a sword. As it was in Pompeii, the battle lines were drawn, the paintings in between began to fizzle away, now it was David who commanded: ENGAGE!!... Caesar’s side was better with the siege and damage but David’s side was better with the fatality.
The battle line was drawn, both sides clashed like lightening on earth’s crust while death hovered around the vicinity like wild wind and, David like Caesar was behind his men. Few minutes later, Caracticus, Rome’s second in command was taken; his own sword was used to thrust into him. Rome now in rage changed formation. They began to slay Israel’s men of war, for a good number of minutes, Israel was losing men not until David and his men of valor decided to step in…this was going to be brutal.
David made kill look like easy video game, David himself had jabbed 30 men already before reaching the frontier where the war was hottest, it was a clean kill, no struggle for him while he rode towards the frontier where the war was fiercest. On the frontier, David’s horse was thrown down with a spear, this had never happened in the past. David came crashing down like a bag of salt. Clasp of swords were the order now, exchange of beatings on shields were the games now, protection was backed by killings, and Caesar’s sword was two-edged, David was better still without a weapon, those hands in the past killed a lion, this wasn’t the first time, this wasn’t his first fight. The spears came crashing, the atmosphere darkened, horses yelled, Caesar stared and yet again another of his cohort consisting of 450 men were slain by David’s sword. Caesar’s last fleet, the special forces advanced, this time with Caesar in front, David too led his last forces, it was the offensive!!
Earth wept when both sides clashed, nothing seemed equal, and the Romans seemed to be skillful now, only David was the most skillful of his side. Caesar’s horse was like war tanker, it swept across David’s defenses, crashing into his men as Caesar made the kills; the Romans were good at the damages because their technology was more advanced. Earth shook, 80 swordsmen of Caesar left fighting David’s 50; the Roman pride was now dead on the ground, her eagle symbol crashed on the battle field; Israel’s flag of war was torn, blood spilled on it and it turned all red as David's 50 launched their last offensive.
Two nations brought together by war. Two kings brought together by the hands of time. Two God's trying to show supremacy at the last hour, only one had to surrender on mount Megiddo, swords were the acts, skill was to decide and probably only one God had to take the glory...Israel tore apart the defenses of Rome, Rome was dead to the world, that day the world changed her garments, Israel made Rome surrender to the blade and David just like he killed Goliath, slaughtered Caesar and fed the birds of the air with his head.
