The real version
We’ve all heard the stories of people falling in love. It's one of the oldest stories in the book. The happy endings, the fairy tales, the huge princess weddings. But what if there was a different version. The real version. The one where not everyone lives happily ever after when the story ends. How do you write a story when the girl who's supposed to have the happy ending is no longer there. When all thoughts that run through her head are betrayed by another's clever words. When she pours her heart out and the wind sweeps it away beneath her feet. When her calming words are ripped from her mouth, or her gentle hands grasp is just out of reach. When the girl's mind is twisted in ways she doesn’t understand or the kingdom she rules crumbles in sight. When the life that she lived fades when the sun sets and one she trusted most is standing on her ground; and the one she loved the most is handing her friend what used to be her crown.
Who she used to be and what they used to be together faded the same night the inside of her welted. It didn;t matter how long she cried; her happy ending died.
