A Memory that never seems to fade
Wafeeqah sat on her bed and scrolled down the Facebook news feed. Suddenly a picture of Shady popped up. This made her smile. Shaheed was her ex who she dated a couple of years back when they were 20.
She thought back to her favourite memory of the two of them. This was the day they went to the beach together. When they got there, they sat at the rock pools.
Shady was tall and handsome. Wafeeqah remembered his vibrant smile and his physique. She wore a green Roxy two piece swimming costume. Shady was topless with a shorts and was as sexy as a model.
The day was beautiful and the sun smiled at them brightly. The water was just the right temperature, not too cold and not hot either. The smell of fresh air welcomed them. The water was too shallow to swim in so they stood. The little rocks she stood on in the water felt smooth like butter.
She splashed some water on him and laughed. He then gathered a heap of water and splashed it back on her. The water did more than just say hello. Wafeeqah looked like she had taken a shower. Her short black hair was wet and some brave droplets dared to land in her mouth eliciting a salty taste.
He never spoke much that day, but when he did, hearing him was a sweet melody to her ears. He was well spoken.
He held her by the waist and hugged her to make up for splashing her with water. Wafeeqah's cheeks turned as red as a rose as she accepted the comforting and warm embrace. He smelled of perfume so lovely that all the aromas of Arabia wouldn't be able to compare.
This beautiful memory never seemed to fade in Wafeeqah’s mind. She quickly snapped back to reality, remembering the different paths they had taken in life. Shady had moved on with his life and was now happily married with a child. Till today, Wafeeqah still wished only the best for him, even if that meant the best wasn't her.
